The Leica Xsight360 system enhances safety management with advanced AI technology.
Leica Geosystems has introduced Xsight360, an innovative AI-driven safety system designed to enhance construction site safety. This advanced system provides a 360-degree view, detecting nearby people, machinery, and obstacles to improve situational awareness. With audio and visual alerts, real-time video streaming, and cloud data storage, Xsight360 aids safety managers in making informed decisions swiftly. Initially launched in the UK, the system is poised to reduce accidents and construction delays by promoting a culture of safety in the industry.
Leica Geosystems has launched the Xsight360, an innovative camera and artificial intelligence system tailored to enhance safety management on construction sites. This new system offers a comprehensive 360-degree view around construction machines, enabling operators to maintain awareness of their surroundings while minimizing blind spots.
The Xsight360 is designed to identify and detect various elements in the construction environment, including people, other machines, vehicles, and construction cones. By doing so, it significantly enhances situational awareness for operators working amidst potentially hazardous conditions. The system implements both audio and visual cues to provide timely alerts about nearby dangers, allowing operators to execute evasive maneuvers when necessary.
One of the standout features of the Xsight360 is its capacity to transmit real-time video and alert data to the cloud. This data exchange allows for the generation of detailed reports and safety recommendations powered by advanced AI algorithms. The system’s collaboration with Presien, a company specializing in heavy-industry AI technology, facilitated the development and optimization of this advanced safety tool.
The visual AI models incorporated in the Xsight360 have been meticulously trained for heavy construction operations. Through machine learning processes, these models improve continuously, ensuring the system adapts to the unique challenges present on job sites. The Leica CRS360 AI processor operates Presien’s advanced AI model, which has been refined during over 700,000 hours of field testing on real-world construction sites.
Designing the system with low-latency operator alerts was a primary focus, which helps reduce false alarms and enhances overall safety. The cloud data not only helps detect immediate hazards but also serves as a valuable resource for safety managers to analyze trends and improve site operations. By interpreting video data, the Xsight360 can generate safety indexes, dashboards, and reports in a matter of minutes, allowing for prompt decision-making.
Users of the Xsight360 can quickly compare site footage against international, national, or specific safety policies, fostering an environment of immediate regulatory compliance awareness. The introduction of this system is expected to bolster occupational health and safety measures by delivering instant alerts to machine operators and providing essential insights for safety professionals.
Notably, the system can support up to six cameras, ensuring a broad coverage area around construction vehicles, thus amplifying safety precautions on-site. With the Xsight360, the aim is to mitigate construction delays and manage project costs effectively by prioritizing site safety.
The Xsight360 made its debut at the Hexagon Live Global 2025, which took place in Las Vegas. For the time being, the product will be available exclusively in the United Kingdom, with intentions to broaden accessibility to additional regions in the near future.
Leica Geosystems and Presien’s partnership places them at the forefront of safety standards within the heavy construction sector. The focus on empowering site teams and leaders through advanced technology aims to address significant challenges commonly faced in construction environments.
